In this very hectic world, there’s a common problem suffered by most – lack of sleep. People are so keyed up during the day that, when it’s time to sleep, they find it difficult to actually just close their eyes and fall asleep like we all do when we were kids.
Unfortunately, we all need all the sleep that we can get. How can we ensure that we’re all getting the right amount of sleep every night? Better yet, how do we help yourselves in falling asleep right away every night?
Get Some Sunlight
When you wake up, make sure that you get yourself some sunlight. Getting some sunlight tells your body that it is daylight and will thus prepare your body for sleeping later on.
This is due to the body’s circadian rhythm. This means that the body keeps track of time through various stimuli like exposure to daylight, which is historically the body’s means of knowing that it is day time. When the body is not exposed to sunlight, it automatically assumes that it is night and it’s time to sleep.
Get yourself some sunlight for a couple of hours, and you should be good to go. It will take time, of course, but getting sunlight into your routine will help you adjust that body clock.
Avoid Blue Light Exposure at Night
Do you know blue rays are? These are the light rays produced by light emitting diodes found in your mobile devices and your computer monitors.
Extensive exposure to blue light at night can actually cause insomnia, because their waves tell the brain that it’s not yet night time and it’s not yet time to sleep. You’d need to make it a point to avoid exposure to blue light or blue rays a couple of hours before sleeping.
This means that you should avoid surfing the Internet before you sleep. Give your eyes a break for a couple of hours, and you should be able to sleep well.
Choose the Right Bed
Of course, sleep is all about comfort. You should buy the best bed that will put you down to sleep every time you lay your body on top of it.
