Flower Delivery is a service that delivers flowers to our door steps. We have many purposes with flowers, be it offering to God, a welcome bouquet, flowers to someone we love, or aesthetic purpose. History
Even though the idea of online florist seems like a recent idea that came to life, there was a floral wire service that was established and run by 15 Florists in USA back in 1910 and in 1920s another group of Florists in Britain established a similar service.
Process
Most of the operations are done through websites or mobile apps, customer is provided with a catalogue to choose what kind of flower needs to be delivered, they deliver the flower to our address.
Types of Services
- Local Florist: They deliver directly to the customer with their bikes or vans on the same day, they generally take their orders on their own websites. This is hand delivered and out of all other forms of services it has the advantage of being most precise as they grow their produce and handover themselves.
- Courier Delivery: Also knows as ‘Flowers by post’, they assemble the flowers into bunches at the farm itself and then usually placed into cardboard boxes and then shipped directly to the customer through overnight couriers. The temperature fluctuations can alter the quality of the flowers during Flower Delivery process.
- Order Broker: They are usually third-party agents that advertise the flowers and receive the offers and then they transfer the order to local florists to fulfill theorder. The customer can’t cannot pick the fulfilling florist.
- Relay Florist: As the name suggests, is usually a website service which takes the purchase from customer and instead of it being direct to the local florist, it transfers money to the local florist and takes their commission in doing so.
